Among the highlights this weekend will be Angus Haggarty taking part in his 99th marathon.

The 70-year-old from Chilliwack will run in the Okanagan Marathon for the 12th time.

Angus, a prison chaplain at Mountain Institute in Agassi, tries to promote physical fitness to the community. “If you are physically fit, you will think different and you will be different when you are out there,” Haggarty said.

The event once again will serve as a fundraiser for Sunshine Foundation: Dreams for Kids.

In past years, the BMO Okanagan Marathon has raised nearly $170,000 for the local charity.

On Saturday, BMO Kids Run for Kids is back along with the growing 5 K Fun Run and 3 K

Friendship Run.

School aged kids will be doing their last 1.6 km on top of their running program to complete the 42.2 km marathon run to receive their Marathon Medal.

The BMO Kids Zone will also be up and running on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. with face-painting and colouring activities.
