A month of yard pick-up, spring and fall, might suit community better

To the editor:
I rarely, if ever write or respond to a media that “buys ink by the barrel” but in response to the yard waste column, Extra Yard Waste Pick-ups Would Come In Quite Handy, Oct. 23, I couldn’t agree more with Shelly Nichol and so I write.
When yard waste, garbage and re-cycling was picked up in bags there seemed to be less complaints. We used to burn, albeit with guilty feelings, and wanted to do better with disposing of yard waste. The bin pickup every two weeks is not adequate for many and too much space for others so a decision is made to allow extra bins at more cost to those that require them.
So I would suggest, tongue in cheek, that those with more than two people living in a house should pay more for sewage as they produce more, or perhaps charge park users more for park use than non-users.
I say this to make a point only. We who have larger yards should not be required to pay more for yard waste disposal. Many provide trees, beneficial to all society, as part of our urban forest and the trees don’t recognize the “correctness” of political decisions and shed their needles and leaves anyway.
To the good folks who make decisions on our behalf please add weekly pickups of yard waste for one month in the spring and one month in the fall.
