Congratulations to Sun and all involved in team

To the editor:
Okanagan Sun—thank you.
As a former athlete I know that Saturday’s loss is probably still pretty painful and fresh in your mind. (Bumpy Sun Season Ends with Positives, Oct. 28 Capital News.)
However, to a man you should all be very proud. You had the defending national champions in your grasp for virtually three and a half quarters of football, and I will bet that Nanaimo knows that they dodged a silver bullet.
In my mind football is the ultimate team game (this coming from a former hockey player) and your game plan was superb. If not for a couple of errors you would have prevailed. Congratulations!
I am not writing this to congratulate you for just one game. As a member of your Waterboys and your Orange Helmet Club, this season was pretty special. For the first time in many years we have seen some degree of parity in the league and your brand of hard-nosed, yet respectful football, speaks volumes for the community that you represent.
This was the first year in many that your team faced challenges on the field, as opposed to challenges off the field, and it was thoroughly entertaining.
My only regret, as a fan, was that I did not get to see Mac Wynsouw play a full final season. While the defense was excellent this year, I believe that had he been able to play, I would be buying tickets for one last home game.
As a community-owned team the Okanagan Sun have always represented our city very well. Again this year the executive, coaches and players of the team provided an entertaining team for the community to enjoy.
My business will continue to contribute to the Orange Helmet Club, and I will remain a proud member of your Waterboys and I hope that the rest of our community feels the same way. Thank you Sun for a great year.
PS: Also thank you to AM1150 for the broadcasts. Not since the days of CKIQ and Bryan Couling has a station made such a commitment to local amateur sport. It is fantastic to listen to the Rockets, Sun and Falcons.
