Vandals go on tire-slashing spree near Capri Sunday

Vandals hit a number of vehicles in the Capri Mall area Sunday night.

RCMP Sgt. Ann Morrison said the Kelowna police are currently investigating a rash of vehicle vandalism that occurred in the area behind Capri Mall.

Calls started coming in around 8:30 p.m. on Nov. 8, and RCMP believe the vandalism could have happened some time between 7:30 and 8:30 p.m.

Morrison said RCMP received close to 30 calls from people who had their tires punctured on their vehicles while parked. The area the vandalism took place in includes Dickson Avenue, Lindahl Street, McInnes Avenue, Wilkinson Street, Harvey Avenue, Chandler Street, Belaire Avenue, Inkar Road and Sutherland Avenue.

Morrison estimated the total damage to vehicles at $10,000. Police are actively investigating, but they do not have any suspects at this time.
