Two intoxicated men who tried to start a fight on Halloween night got more than they expected.
RCMP Const. Steve Holmes said a 31-year-old man was outside his home in the 800 block of Bay Avenue at close to 7 p.m. on Oct. 31 when he was approached by two drunken men.
Holmes said the pair kicked the man in the face and that the man defended himself, knocking out one of his attackers. He noted that the other drunk staggered away, and the man called police to let them know what had happened.
“When police arrived, the knocked-out drunk, a 24-year-old West Kelowna male, was being treated for a minor injury.”
Holmes said a witness told police the drunk was believed to be an aggressor from an assault that happened at a house party nearby.
Holmes said that at the party, two men attacked a third man who was trying to stop a fight.
The third 20-year-old man was punched in the face and had his hand bitten, resulting in a trip to hospital for treatment.
Holmes said the knocked-out drunk was arrested for assault. It was discovered that he was under conditions not to consume alcohol, resulting from a charge of aggravated assault two days earlier.
Holmes noted the man is facing a charge of breach of undertaking and possibly a charge of assault.
He added that despite the use of a police dog, the other attacker was not found.
