A complicated collision between a city bus, three vehicles and a house is under investigation.
RCMP Staff Sgt. Bob Reuter said the collision took place at the intersection of Ethel Street and Guisachan Road, at close to 2 p.m. on Oct. 17.
Reuter said a city bus was travelling north on Ethel, and a third vehicle was travelling south on Ethel, while an SUV was travelling west on Guisachan.
“The SUV pulled out of the intersection and struck the side of the bus, as well as the third vehicle, which ended up in this collision.”
Reuter said that after the bus was hit, it veered off the road.
The bus smashed through a wooden fence, clipped the corner of a house and collided with another vehicle parked in the driveway of the home.
All vehicles and the bus involved in the crash were severely damaged.
Reuter noted that at least 10 people went to Kelowna General Hospital with various injuries.
He said seven of the people were passengers on the bus, as well as the driver. Two people were from the SUV, and one from the damaged house.
He added that the woman from the house was not injured, but had medical complications following the crash.
RCMP Const. Steve Holmes said the injuries received were mainly lacerations and bruises.
“Most of the injuries were minor in nature.”
Holmes said the police investigation is ongoing into the cause of the collision.
RCMP have seized the SUV, and it is being inspected for mechanical failure.
“We’re looking at all angles for possible causes.”
Holmes said no charges have yet been entered.
