A suspicious fire destroyed a storage shed on a Valley Road property early Tuesday morning.

Kelowna assistant fire chief Bryan Collier said firefighters reached the blaze in the 400-block of Valley Road at close to 1 a.m. on Oct. 20.

“On arrival, the structure that was approximately 350 metres off of the road was fully involved in fire.”

Collier said a water tender unit was called in, and fire crews worked to extinguish the blaze until 5 that morning. He noted that the large storage shed was used to store miscellaneous non-valuable items, and the shed itself was valued at $60,000.

Collier said the cause of the fire is being treated as suspicious, suspected to be caused by a squatter.
