Starting today sections of the Mission Creek Greenway are closed for trail reconstruction and upgrading through the end of November.

Over the next six weeks, about 750 meters of the bypass/grasslands trail south of the Smoothing Stones (third bridge, 12 kilometre mark) along phase two of the Greenway is slated for reconstruction in three phases.

One part of the project includes widening, adding stairs and resurfacing of a narrow and steep section of trail that rises from the bridge.

Signs advising of the closures have been posted at both the Hollywood Road South and Field Road parking areas on both ends of Scenic Canyon Regional Park.

Updated information on trail closures as construction progresses will be available at each location as well as on the Regional District website www.regionaldistrict.com.

Trail users are asked to be aware of the closure information and that they may encounter construction equipment.

Areas of the trail that are closed and under construction will be fenced and signed and residents are asked to stay out of closed areas to ensure their safety.
