Police have broken up a crack cocaine house in downtown Kelowna.

RCMP Const. Collier Henneberry said a house in the 500 block of Leon Avenue was known to be involved in the crack cocaine trade.

He said members of the Kelowna RCMP Downtown Enforcement Unit executed a search warrant at the house during the evening of Oct. 9.

“The residence and occupants have been targets of lengthy surveillance,” said Henneberry.

“Undercover police officers were brought in and purchased crack cocaine from the residents.”

Henneberry said stolen property and drug paraphernalia were discovered inside the house.

He added the investigation is continuing and charges are pending.

“The Downtown Enforcement Unit is actively working hard in the city’s core to eliminate drug trafficking and use, as it directly affects the general public and local businesses throughout the year.”

Henneberry encouraged anyone with information on local drug houses to contact Crime Stoppers or Kelowna RCMP at 250-762-3300.
