Drug bust…
Kelowna RCMP Downtown Enforcement Unit officers look over a cache of drugs and weapons seized from a vehicle parked on Leon Avenue on Thursday morning. At 7:15 a.m., RCMP DEU members spotted a blue Toyota pickup parked curbside. A quick computer query of the licence plate showed that it did not belong on that vehicle. Police approached the vehicle and saw a flurry of movement as the two males and one female rummaged around inside the vehicle in an attempt to hide items. A search of the vehicle led police to find .25 grams of crack cocaine and .1 gram of powder cocaine inside a makeup compact, a collapsible steel baton, a full can of bear spray, a prohibited martial arts weapon called a Sai, knives, crack pipes, scales and screwdrivers which would likely be used as break-in instruments. Two males, one aged 20 the other aged 44, both known to police, were arrested and police will be recommending charges of possession of a controlled substance, possession of a prohibited weapon and carrying a concealed weapon.
