Monika Walker, owner of Okanagan Grocery, has been named to Western Living Magazine’s second annual “Top 40 Foodies Under 40.”

The list, which appears in the publication’s October 2009 issue, recognizes individuals in the food industry who are “helping to define and change the way we eat in Western Canada today.”

The 25-year old Kelowna-based baker was notified that she had been named to the list shortly after returning from a trip abroad.

“I was reminded how truly blessed I am to live in the Okanagan Valley,” said Monika.

“While I enjoy traveling and having the opportunity to sample foods from different countries and influences, the regional flavours of the Okanagan are a consistent source of inspiration to me.”
