Company to receive $676,400 fed grant
A Kelowna firm, Signalink Technologies Inc., will be on the receiving end of a federal grant for $676,400 to provide opportunities in the technology field for workers formerly employed in the forestry industry.”
“Investments in innovative companies are not only vital to the economy, they will spur the kind of job creation needed to sustain communities now and in the future,” said Kelowna-Lake Country MP Ron Cannan.
Ed Alfke, CEO of Signalink, added: “This capital will create a number of jobs here at Signalink Technologies that will continue years beyond this program.
“It is not a handout but a loan, which we will pay back to the government after investing this money to drive sales in the USA with our Canadian technology. It is a great help to push our new technology when we most need it.”
The grant comes from the Community Adjustment Fund, created to provide $306 million over two years to support the most affected western Canadian communities, such as those that are heavily reliant on resource-based industries, including forestry, mining, agriculture and fisheries, and communities that depend on the manufacturing industry.
