Just telling your story could win you two tickets to the 2010 Olympics Men’s Figure Skating free skate event in Vancouver.
“This is a great opportunity for citizens of Kelowna to tell Canada and the world about the healthy living options available in our community,” said Louise Roberts-Taylor, recreation manager for the City of Kelowna.
“Let’s get online and tell Kelowna’s story.
“How do we support active healthy living and sustainable practices? How do you get into the Olympic spirit?”
To enter to win, citizens must go to www.gamestown2010.ca, navigate to Kelowna’s homepage, take the Healthy Living Pledge and post a story about Kelowna.
Finally, e-mail contest@kelowna.ca a copy of the pledge, the story posted and participant contact information, including full name, address and phone number, before Oct. 31, 2009.
Residents will also have a chance to vote for Kelowna as their favourite community on the GamesTown 2010 website.
“The City of Kelowna is excited about this much needed opportunity to put more funds into improving sport and recreation facilities for the community, but we need help from our citizens. So, be sure to vote for Kelowna between November and January,” said Roberts-Taylor.
Three B.C. communities will earn the honour of being named Gold, Silver or Bronze medal winners of GamesTown 2010.
Cash prizes $100,000, $50,000 and $25,000 will be awarded to the top communities to upgrade a local sport or healthy living facility. Voting closes on January 4, 2010.
