Even while getting ready for the 29th annual Okanagan Fall Wine Festival, behind the scenes organizers are embarked on a re-branding of the four seasonal festivals staged by the Okanagan Wine Festival Society.
Coordinator Blair Baldwin says the concept came out of a “blue sky session” at the society’s annual retreat and a professional facilitator was hired; then bids for a new logo went out.
Vinicio Delgado of Kelowna was selected to design the logo, and also a re-design of the website, which will be launched in October.
“No matter who you are, the wine festivals are about having fun,” noted Baldwin, so the tag-line ‘naturally fun’ was added to the logo, which depicts the four seasons around a central wineglass.
All 12 board members were unanimous in support of the new design, he said.
The society is now also part of social networking site Facebook, as Okanagan Wine Festivals; and twitters at OKWineFests.
The fall festival gets underway Oct. 1, with the 92 member wineries offering more than 180 events throughout the valley, many of them free.
They range from tastings, tours and wine pairings to visits to art galleries, grape stomping and high end dinners.
Brochures with event details are available wherever wine is sold, at tourism centres and Starbucks outlets, as well as on the website at: www.thewinefestivals.com
