Crash victim named

Police have released the name of the Peachland motorcyclist killed in a Westside crash on Tuesday afternoon.

Martin Simond Evans, 36, died of injuries he sustained after his Titan motorcycle collided with a Chevrolet pickup at the intersection of Highway 97 and Daimler Drive.

The truck was driven by a 71-year-old woman.

Police believe the pickup, which was headed west on Highway 97, was attempting to make a left turn to go onto Daimler Drive when Evans’ eastbound motorcycle collided with the passenger side of the truck.

Evans suffered extensive head injuries in the crash, which happened around 2:45 p.m. on Tuesday.

He was rushed to Kelowna General Hospital, where he later died.

Officers from Central Okanagan Traffic Services are continuing to investigate the crash, but say speed and alcohol do not appear to be factors.

Evans’ death is the 12th traffic fatality in the Central Okanagan this year.
