The woman shot on Good Friday has succumbed to her injuries, and police hope an autopsy conducted yesterday will help them determine how she received her wound.

“There’s nothing indicating any suspicion at this point,” said Const. Julie Rattee. “It’s routine, as you can well imagine, just due to the nature of the call, (that) we have to be thorough in our investigation and rule everything out.”

Around 2 p.m. on Friday, RCMP were called to assist paramedics after they were summoned to a Manhattan Drive home after a report there was a woman inside a waterfront home who had suffered a gunshot wound.

A 25-year-old Kelowna woman was taken to hospital that afternoon for treatment of her wounds, and died early Sunday morning. Her name has not been released.

An autopsy was scheduled to take place yesterday morning and investigators hope to gain “further clarification” about how the incident happened through the results of the autopsy, said Rattee.

Police are leaning toward ruling out foul play in the death. However, Rattee said investigators are “going to second guess everything” to be as complete as possible in their review before making a determination of whether the case is a police investigation or one for the coroner to look into.

A man at the home at the time the shooting took place has been questioned by the RCMP, and has been “completely cooperative” with the police investigation.
