The All-American Boys Chorus, a California-based, non-profit organization of boys ages 8 to 15, will perform at the Kelowna Community Theatre on Sunday, July 26, 7:30 p.m.
The 40-voices of the internationally acclaimed All-American Boys Chorus will present audience favourites that celebrate a wide range of musical influences—from the California sounds of the Beach Boys to Broadway selections from The Lion King, Les Miserable and West Side Story to movie hits from Newsies and The Chronicles of Narnia-Prince Caspian.
There will also be swinging songs from the Big Band era, as well as great jazz standards from the pens of Duke Ellington, Jimmy McHugh and Bobby Troup.
“This dedicated troupe of young musical ambassadors has spent months preparing for the tour, and they are excited to share their talents with an international audience,” said Anthony S. Manrique, executive director of the AABC.
“The concerts promise to be dazzling productions that will thrill music lovers of all ages.”
To date, AABC has released five albums and has performed to standing ovations in concerts worldwide.
They have toured throughout the United States and Canada and to Russia, Romania, Austria, Italy, Switzerland, Germany, China, Macau, Korea and Japan.
This non profit organization has been providing boys with unmatched opportunities to travel the world and establish lifelong friendships for 39 years.
Canada is the AABC’s favourite place to tour. Indeed, this year’s tour is the group’s 30th visit to Canada.
The AABC has performed before U.S. presidents, Canadian premiers and well-known celebrities including Tony Bennett, Paul Anka, Bob Hope, Melissa Manchester and Victor Borge.
Artistic collaborations with Josh Groban, Disney, the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra and the William Hall Master Chorale have given The All-American Boys Chorus notable stature.
As well, the AABC has given many youngsters a taste of stardom earning them television credits in commercials for Mazda, TWA, Kentucky Fried Chicken and Pacific Life.
The All American Boys Chorus, founded in 1970, is a non profit organization that utilizes music and the “pursuit of excellence” to instill and foster leadership skills and characteristics in its current membership of 110 boys and over 1,000 alumni.
