Langley Airport terminal going up

The new terminal building is expected to be up and running by summer 2018.

Foundations are being built for the new terminal building at the Langley Regional Airport.

“Everything’s going really well, it’s right on schedule,” said airport manager Guy Miller.

The new terminal will eventually replace the aging control tower, which is just to the north of the new terminal site.

The walls of the new facility will likely be up by Christmas or early January, said Miller, and the building will be largely operational by the end of summer.

After that, the new tower control will be the last part to be finished.

The new terminal is part of a major expansion for the airport this year, including the opening of new industrial maintenance facilities for Vector Aerospace, new hangars for local private pilots, and the replacement terminal.

The terminal and offices for the airport date back to the 1960s, and the current busy local facility has outgrown both.

Miller said space had become an issue.
