Injured hiker rescued in Goldstream Park

Emergency crews used basket stretcher to transport 21-year-old man

A 21-year-old hiker was rescued by local crews Wednesday in Goldstream Provincial Park.

Langford Fire Rescue was called to the park at around 3 p.m. The man was able to use his cell phone to call for help after injuring his ankle. He could not walk out on his own.

Crews were able to locate him between the Trans-Canada Highway and the Gold Mine Trail and transported him to safety with a basket stretcher.

Metchosin Fire Rescue also aided with the rescue.
