Five car seats have been delivered to the Summerland Food Bank and Resource Centre as part of the Child Safety Initiative.

The initiative is a partnership between United Way Central and South Okanagan Similkameen, the Central Okanagan Foundation and the Kelowna General Hospital Foundation.

Eligible families in Summerland who cannot afford a car seat are able to apply for them at the centre.

A total of 84 car seats will be distributed to agencies within the United Way CSO region.

The United Way also provides funding to the food bank. This year’s United Way fundraising campaign is underway. Information about investments and donations is available at unitedwaycso.com.

The three organizations joined forces to purchase car seats at a discounted rate through Costco Kelowna. Budget Car and Truck Rentals donated the van to transport the seats to the South Okanagan and Similkameen.
