Abbotsford Police are awaiting an autopsy report before coming to any conclusions about the death of a man whose body was found in a watery ditch on Sumas Way on Saturday.

A citizen spotted the body around 12:10 p.m. in the 1100 block of Sumas Way, not far from the U.S. border.

Investigators are not currently considering the 62-year-old man's death a homicide, said Const. Ian MacDonald.

"Although the death is tragic, the investigation at this point does not lead us to conclude we are dealing with anything suspicious," he said.

The man's body did not exhibit any obvious signs of foul play, trauma, or that he'd been involved in some sort of motor vehicle incident.

The victim has had interactions with police, but not for criminal activity, said MacDonald.

The man's last known address was relatively close to where he was found.

The autopsy is scheduled to take place later this week.
