A large-scale dial-a-dope operation busted nearly two years ago, has netted one of the accused one day short of two years in prison.

David Pang, who was convicted of trafficking in a controlled substance, was sentenced in Richmond provincial court Thursday in connection with his December 2007 arrest that followed a year-long RCMP investigation.

The Richmond RCMP's drug section seized three kilograms of cocaine following the search of a local apartment and a Vancouver house.

In the dial-a-dope operation, clients call a phone number, request a product, set up a location to meet and then exchange drugs for money with a drug runner.

Richmond RCMP Cpl. Nycki Basra said following the arrest that investigators believed it to be the largest dial-a-dope in operation in the city at the time.

Also arrested were Sui T.E. Chan, Liang J. Deng, Sze C. Lai, Kar F. Leung, Colin J. Montgomery and Ho K. Tai.
