High winds have knocked out power to some parts of Cloverdale this morning.

B.C. Hydro says 131 homes in an area around 168 St. and 83 and 85A Ave. lost power at about 4:15 a.m. The power is expected to be restored by 4 p.m. today.

Another 11 customers in the 8300 block of 167A St., and the 16700 block of 84 Ave., lost power at 6:30 a.m. due to the windstorm rattling the Lower Mainland.

BC Hydro crews are also dealing with several other, much smaller, power outages locally – one that began at 8:20 a.m. that's affecting the 16800 block of 88 Ave., and another at the 18100 block of 92 Ave.

Both outages affect fewer than five customers each. The power should be restored by this afternoon.

About 5,500 customers in the Lower Mainland and Sunshine Coast are currently without power.
