B.C. Hydro outlines planned power outages in Prince Rupert starting Monday

B.C. Hydro has announced a series of planned power outages that will cover most of Prince Rupert and take place throughout next week starting this Monday.

The 400 Block of 8th Avenue East to Hayes Cove Circle and 7th Avenue East from McBride through Hayes Cove Circle to 6th Avenue East will be without power from five a.m. to seven a.m. on November 16 and 20. Much of the west side will be without power for a period of time on Wednesday as outages are planned from eight a.m. to nine a.m. and three p.m. to four p.m. on all of Pillsbury Avenue, Cassiar Avenue, Parry Place and Kootenay Place, and from Kootenay Avenue to Smithers Street and Sloan to Smithers Street.

The power outages will continue next week, with power being out from eight a.m. to 11 a.m. on Prince Rupert Boulevard from Heron to Gull Crescent and the part of Gull Crescent closest to Prince Rupert Boulevard on Sunday, November 22. The final planned outage will take place on November 23, with power out from 12 a.m. to six a.m. from 841 3rd Avenue West to 725 3rd Avenue West and all of Fraser Street.

The power outages are required to keep crews safe while B.C. hydro carries out electrical system improvements in town.
