THE H1N1 flu seems to have hit the Hazelton area harder than expected with the decision to keep Hazelton Secondary School closed.

The school was first closed last week and was due to open yesterday but high sick rates caused officials to keep the doors closed.

The school is now expected to open later this week.

In the meantime, H1N1 vaccine clinics in Terrace Monday and yesterday were cancelled because of a shortage of the vaccine.

The next scheduled clinic is Nov. 19 and the Northern Health Authority continues to say that only those considered a high priority are eligible to receive the vaccine.

These priorities are persons under the age of 65 with chronic conditions (i.e. asthma, diabetes), pregnant women and people who live in remote and isolated settings or communities (including all First Nations people living on reserve).
