Abbotsford thieves rob charity donation box

Abbotsford Police are releasing a video and asking the public to help hunt for two men who brazenly robbed a donation box from a gas station on Sunday morning.

Two men entered a gas station convenience store in the 2900 block of Blue Jay Street just prior to 7 a.m., said Const. Ian MacDonald.

One of the two suspects involved distracted the store clerk while the other grabbed a BC Children's Hospital donation box containing around $40 and stuffed it into his jacket.

The two men were driving a blue 1995 Nissan Pathfinder bearing the licence plate number 359 NEA.

Investigators believe the same two men actually returned to the same gas station the following day, said MacDonald.

"The manager confronted them and they simply denied having taken the box," he said.

"If they were in any way repentant, they could have made the situation right but they obviously felt no need to do that."

Anyone with information should contact the Abbotsford Police Department at 604-859-5225 or make an anonymous call to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
