A violent killer who was unlawfully at large from the Forensic Psychiatric Institute has returned voluntarily.
Terry Giesbrecht, 46, was reported missing from the Colony Farm facility on Wednesday. He'd left the hospital with permission the previous day at 9 a.m., but did not return by his scheduled curfew at 10 p.m.
Giesbrecht was convicted of second-degree murder after killing two men in Fort St. John in 2004, but found not criminally responsible due to his paranoid schizophrenia.
Coquitlam RCMP reported that Giesbrecht returned to the facility by Thursday afternoon.
