A bomb squad was called to Marlborough Elementary this morning (Thursday) to deal with what staff there felt was a suspicious package/device.

The item has been found to be benign, nothing more than a box with what appears to be some small orange cones used for sports, and other items.

Staff of Marlborough had contacted Burnaby RCMP about 8:30 a.m. Thursday with their concerns.

Classes are not yet in session, but about 12 staff preparing for the upcoming school year were evacuated from the school.

Earlier this month, a pipe bomb found in a parkade at Metrotown mall was detonated.

As more details are available, more will be posted to www.burnabynewsleader.com
