An overnight search for a missing 10-year-old boy in Abbotsford was suspended on Saturday morning after he was found safe in a home in Mission.
Mitchell Littlechild went missing from a residence on Banff Place around 4 p.m. after he went out looking for a buddy, said Abbotsford Police Const. Ian MacDonald.
It appears Littlechild, who was unfamiliar with the area, got disoriented and made his way towards his home community of Mission.
A search was launched by family and friends before a patrol officer was notified at about 8 p.m., said MacDonald. Later in the evening a motorist reported a boy matching Littlechild’s description walking on the Mission Bridge.
The search was called off Saturday morning when police got a call from a home in Mission where Littlechild spent the night, after the family heard media reports on the boy’s disappearance.
