The Canary Derby soap box races last weekend in the Deer Lake neighbourhood raised $113,000 for cancer research.
Top fundraiser for the event was Webnames.ca, which brought in just over $13,000. Local high-tech companies sponsored the engine-less soap-box cars for the fundraiser organized by the Canary Foundation, dedicated to funding research and development of tests for early cancer detection.
