Big Valley sees 51 turn out for golf tourney

Submitted by Linda Stillinger Big Valley Bulletin

Registration began at 10 a.m. with visiting, coffee and snacks. Event M.C. Lorne Parkin thanked everyone for coming out, reminiscing over the past 10 years before revealing the teams for the nine hole best ball tournament. Shortly after 11 a.m., tee off initiated an entertaining afternoon of memories and fun.

The Annable, Scott, Stuber, Shaw, Ridley, McCrindle, Webster, Jim Paul Sr., Klaus, Balcom, Berresford, Kastik and Cartwright families wouldlike to take this opportunity to thank everyone who came to take part in the tournament. Many family members and friends came a long distance to remember and honour loved ones. Thanks to the many volunteers who donated time, efforts, cash and prizes to help make this event a success. Thanks to Wayne Saar and Ron and Marj Olive-Kilpatrick for supplying the beverage carts. A special thank you to Lorne Parkin for being M.C. again and for putting the teams together.

A great turnout of 51 golfers came to take part in this year's tournament. The winners were Clark Trimming, John Obermayr, Kayla Baird and Wendy Volker. Profits from this year's event will go to the Big Valley Cemetery Fund, the Big Valley Fire Department and the Big Valley Golf Course.

The entire Annable Family have enjoyed organizing and hosting this tournament over the past 10 years, but are now handing it over to other great volunteers to carry on the tradition, and will support whoever takes over.
