Fruit trees centre of Scouts thank-you event

A successful grant from the TD Friends of the Environment Foundation has enabled the Lake Cowichan Scouting group to purchase three new fruit trees for the community garden.

"We are hosting a thank you event with the Scouts at the Cowichan Lake Community Garden Saturday, Sept. 23 from 10:30 a.m. to noon," said Cara Smith. "This will also be a celebration of our first year at the Ravine Park location (off of Stone Avenue), and members of the general public are welcome to attend."

The group was one of many across the country to receive funding of anywhere between $200-$800 from the Foundation for various tree planting initiatives in 2017.
