An off-duty member of the RCMP’s professional standards unit has been charged in connection to a collision in Coquitlam.

Sgt. Christopher Lee faces one count of driving without due care and attention after his vehicle allegedly struck woman on the morning of March 21, 2016.

The civilian-led police watchdog, the Independent Investigations Office, looked into the case and recommended that the Crown consider charges against Lee.

He is set to appear in provincial court in Coquitlam on April 27.

Correction: An earlier version of this story stated that the crash was fatal.
