Maple Ridge hit and run sends one to hospital

A man was airlifted to hospital Sunday after being hit by a pickup truck.

The 41-year-old was on 228th Street at Purdey Avenue when he was run over by the dark coloured truck around 8:45 p.m.

The driver knocked him down and continued driving north on 228 Street.

Paramedics arrived at the scene and the Maple Ridge resident was airlifted to Royal Columbian Hospital in New Westminster with non-life threatening injuries.

“I’m happy to report the injured victim is expected to fully recover,” said RCMP Cpl. Ryan Schlecker.

Police patrolled the area but were unable to locate the pickup truck involved in the hit and run.

The vehicle is believed to be a full sized Dodge 4 X 4, up to 10 years old, with no canopy.
