Update: Fire near Naramata now 75 per cent contained

The fire north of Naramata is now estimated at 2.5 hectares and 75 per cent contained.
It was constrained on one side by Naramata Road, said Kelsey Winter, spokeswoman for the B.C. Wildfire Management Branch, but crews are still working to snuff out the blaze in a steep gully filled with fuel.
Thirteen firefighters from the branch remain at the site with helicopters assisting from above. Fire departments in Penticton, Naramata and Kaleden also have people on the ground.

Smoke is curling up from a hillside north of Naramata as crews work to extinguish a wildfire near the the community.
The blaze was estimated at 1.5 hectares as of 3 p.m., according to Kelsey Winter, spokeswoman for the B.C. Wildfire Management Branch.
“It’s burning in grass and open timber,” she said, adding the blaze was reported at 1:30 p.m.
Sixteen firefighters from the Wildfire Management Branch are on the ground working alongside volunteers from the Naramata and Kaleden fire departments, Winter added, while two air tankers and two helicopters are helping out from above.
