Body found near Sapperton Landing

New Westminster police and the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team are working together to investigate the case of a body found near Sapperton Landing Saturday evening

New Westminster called it a suspicious death after a man's body was found on the bank of the Fraser River at the east end of Sapperton Landing.

According to reports, it was discovered Saturday about 6:45  p.m., but wasn't removed until Sunday morning. New Westminster police's major crime unit and the B.C. coroner's office were conducting an initial investigation Sunday. The major crime unit and IHIT are working together on the case, said New Westminster police Monday morning.

The body was found on private property behind a gate at the foot of Cumberland Street.
