A Chilliwack neighbourhood was woken up by gunshots early Thursday morning.

Neighbours in the 46100-block of Gore Avenue heard shots ring out around 4 a.m. One neighbour posting on Facebook says eight shots were fired and said five people took off in a white four-door Mazda hatchback.

The Chilliwack RCMP’s Crime Scene Investigation team was first to respond to Hawthorne Manor, followed by the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT).

IHIT has confirmed two people are dead, with a third person injured.

Police are calling this a targeted shooting and are asking anyone with info to call the IHIT tip line at 1-877-551-4448 or email ihittipline@rcmp-grc.gc.ca.

Tips can also be provided anonymously by calling CrimeStoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
