A mechanic working on a vehicle that caught fire was taken to hospital with minor burns on July 29.

Around 11 a.m., Township fire crews went to the fire at an auto shop at 6808 216 Street, said Township assistant fire chief Bruce Ferguson.

The vehicle that caught fire was completely destroyed and there was fire damage to the shop as well.

There was also some smoke and water damage to a few apartment units above.

Provincial Disaster Assistance was called in because those residents won’t be able to come back home for a few days.

Estimated damages is in the range of $100,000, said Ferguson.
