Charges laid in an alleged Armstrong sexual assault

Charges have been laid in an alleged Armstrong sexual assault.

At the end of May, the RCMP began an investigation into an incident that was reported to officers.

"This investigation required a great deal of time to complete and required forensic evidence to assist in the identification of the suspect," said Gord Molendyk, RCMP spokesperson.

An individual was arrested July 22.

Very few details are being provided about the victim.

"All I will say is it's an adult," said Molendyk.

"We work hard to keep the identity of victims confidential."

Joseph Vance Caron, 45, of Armstrong is facing charges of sexual assault, unlawful confinement, uttering threats and attempting to choke a victim to commit a sexual offence.

Caron has been remanded in custody and is expected to appear in court again Wednesday.
