Only minor injuries in rollover

Occupants escaped with minor injuries after their SUV was forced onto its side Sunday evening.

RCMP were called to the accident at 27th Street and 53rd Avenue around 10 p.m. which involved a Kia rental car driven by a 47-year-old woman from Italy and two passengers.

“She didn’t notice a Chevy Tracker being driven by a 75-year-old man from Vernon,” said Gord Molendyk, RCMP spokesperson.

The driver and two passengers of the Chevy all received minor injuries and were transported to Vernon Jubilee Hospital for treatment.

“There’s an indication that the vehicle flipped on its side as a result of that accident.”

The jaws of life were needed in the accident.

“Very fortunate, it could have been much worse,” said Molendyk.

The driver of the Kia and her passengers, also from Italy, were not injured. She has been issued a violation ticket for failure to yield.
