The Alberni Valley News editorial staff will have a changing of the guard after six and a half years.

This week we welcome reporter Katya Slepian (Kat) from Richmond, where she recently graduated from Kwantlen Polytechnic University with a Bachelor of Journalism and a minor in sociology. She has freelanced for the Richmond Review and Vancouver Sun before coming here.

Slepian will replace Wawmeesh G. Hamilton, who has been accepted into the Masters in Journalism program at the University of British Columbia where he begins studies in September.

We wish them both well.
