Man in custody for Superstore robbery

A man has been charged in connection with the robbery of a Pitt Meadows grocery store on Canada Day.

Ridge Meadows RCMP arrested the man Saturday after identifying him as a suspect.

RCMP were called to the Great Canadian Superstore in Meadowtown Centre around 11:45 p.m. July 1 after two employees were threatened by a thief.

The man ordered the women into an office that contained the store’s safe and forced them to open it. He fled with an unknown amount of money.

The man is facing two counts each of robbery and unlawful confinement and one count of wearing a disguise. He has been remanded in custody until his next court appearance July 14.
