Beat summer pain with the Egoscue Method

Through individually tailored stretches and gentle exercises, postural exercise therapy recruits specific muscles to bring the body back to its proper alignment and function the way it was designed.
Over time, your body has adapted to lifestyle or injuries through compensations, such as throwing your hip out to carry a child, propping the phone to your ear with a shoulder or constantly dropping your head to view your iPhone. These compensations result in muscle and movement imbalances, which create unequal sheer and stress to your tissues and joints. Eventually you get inflammation and injury to tissue — otherwise known as pain.
By assessing your posture, a postural exercise therapist will suggest specific exercises to change your movement patterns. He or she will then design a specific menu of postural exercises to follow at home.
As your body repositions itself and imbalances correct, these exercises can be modified to ensure your overall alignment continues to improve.
It’s quite surprising how quickly drastic improvements can occur with postural exercise therapy. It’s even more effective when used in conjunction with acupuncture to address healing within the injured tissues and reduce the likelihood of re-aggravation.
