Delta Police were called to a report of a man who fell from a boat Saturday (June 7).

A boat was located near the Alex Fraser Bridge and a man on board said his friend had fallen overboard while trying to free the vessel after they ran out of fuel and drifted into mooring pilings.

Police and the Coast Guard searched for the missing man until dark, but did not find him. The search resumed Sunday, with authorities using a hovercraft and helicopter.

Police said alcohol doesn't appear to be a factor in the incident, but added the man was not wearing a life jacket and is a non-swimmer.

The search was suspended later Sunday.

The missing man is described as an Indo-Canadian man in his 30s, 5'11" tall, with a muscular build, short brown hair, a mole on his cheek and nose, and arm tattoos of a cobra and the word "ASHNEIL." He was last seen wearing a grey Old Navy shirt and jeans.
