Flag flies half-mast at Agassiz RCMP detachment
The Canada flag was flying half-mast on Friday at the Agassiz RCMP detachment, in honour of three police officers killed by a gunman in Moncton, NB. At the base of the flag pole, fresh cut flowers sat in a bucket of water.
Justin Bourque, 24, allegedly shot five RCMP officers on Wednesday. Three were killed and two were injured and sent to hospital. The shooting then turned into a manhunt throughout a large part of the city, forcing schools and government buildings to close, and confining people to their homes.
Bourque was caught late Thursday night, surrendering to RCMP.
The three officers killed have now been identified as Const. Dave Ross, 32, Const. Fabrice Georges Gevaudan, 45 and Const. Douglas James Larche, 40. Bourque has been charged with three counts of first-degree murder and two counts of attempted murder.
