An Abbotsford man has been charged with sexual assault and two counts of indecent acts after an incident aboard a transit bus on Tuesday afternoon.

On that day at 2:45 p.m., the Abbotsford Police Department was called about an unruly bus passenger who was bothering young women.

Const. Ian MacDonald said the man had approached two female passengers, each 23 years old, and made inappropriate comments while touching himself.

He also grabbed the hip of one of the women.

The victims moved away from the man, and police were called. Kristopher Wayne Andrie, 32, was arrested at the next bus stop and has now been charged.

According to the provincial court database, he was already appearing before the courts on charges of assaulting a peace officer, uttering threats and breaching his bail conditions.

He has previous convictions for theft, mischief, trafficking in a controlled substance and possession for the purpose of trafficking.

MacDonald said it doesn't appear that Andrie has any connections to two recent previous sexual assaults in Abbotsford.

One took place Dec. 12, when a woman was walking in the 2400 block of Gladwin Road, adjacent to Mill Lake Park.

She was approached from behind by a man who propositioned her, attempted to expose himself and threw her to the ground.

The woman scrambled to her feet and was able to run to a nearby apartment building to call for police.

The other sexual assault occurred on March 22 on Discovery Trail in the 3600 block of Clearbrook Road when a 57-year-old woman was approached by a man who had his pants pulled down and tried to grab her.

The woman hit the man with her umbrella and ran to a nearby picnic area, where a group of people helped her.
