Vernon sports events land provincial funding

Three athletic associations will benefit from a total of $9,000 in Hosting B.C. grants.

The Vernon Rowing and Dragon Boat Society will host Lap the Lake June 14.The Sovereign Lake Nordic Club will host the FIS NorAm Cross Country Ski Competition in December and Curl B.C. will host the 2015 Canadian Direct Insurance B.C. Men's Curling Championship in January 2015.

“Hosting B.C. grants really give a boost to communities looking to stay on the competitive sports map,” said Eric Foster, Vernon-Monashee MLA.

“These three events will help to make Vernon a destination location for sporting organizations and events in the future.”

Hosting B.C. provides grants for competitive events that range in scope from provincial to national to international levels.
