Police in Port Alberni are on the hunt for a man who allegedly tried to grab a 16-year old boy in broad daylight and make him go with him. According to an RCMP press release, the teen was walking along Gertrude Street between 12:30-12:40 p.m. on April 24. The boy was approached by an adult male at Gertrude Street and Burke Road. The man directed the boy to go with him then tried to grab him, the release noted. The boy said no to the man and continued walking south along Gertrude Street while the man walked north on Gertrude Street. Police flooded the area but were unable to locate the suspect. "Given the time of day, we are hoping that other pedestrians or vehicle traffic in the area may have witnessed the incident and have information that will assist the police in identifying this man," RCMP Const. Aaron Assen said, The man is described as a First Nations male, six-foot three tall, between 20-30 years old, slenderly built with black hair. The man was wearing blue jeans and a dark colour top. Anyone with any information about this incident is asked to call RCMP at 250-723-2424, or CRIMESTOPPERS at 1-800-222-TIPS. reporter@albernivalleynews.com Twitter.com/AlberniNews
