Semiahmoo border wait goes south for holiday travellers
Motorists heading south on the holiday weekend faced some horrendous waits at the South Surrey border crossings.
Cars and trucks on Highway 99 Friday morning were backed up north of the 24 Avenue overpass – a lineup that reportedly took more than three hours to get through.
Canada Border Services Agency is hoping a new online tool launched late last week will help northbound travellers avoid getting caught in similar lines in the future.
'Forecasted border wait times' estimates how long motorists can expect to wait at any of the country's busiest crossings, based on historical data.
According to the data for the Pacific Highway crossing, motorists crossing into Canada at peak time (2-6 p.m.) on Easter Monday could expect to wait about 40 minutes.
