Police hunting for suspect in armed Surrey home invasion
Mounties are requesting public assistance in identifying the suspects in a targeted home invasion-style robbery that occurred more than four months ago.
On Oct. 14, 2013 at about 5 p.m., Surrey RCMP responded to a report of a robbery at a home in the 14000-block of 79 Ave. in Newton.
Three men entered the home and began making demands for items in the home. Then they pepper sprayed the occupants and fled with items from the home.
The suspects are described as being Caucasian, in their 30’s, and wearing hoodies. They are believed to have fled in a black, newer model, four-door sedan southbound on 140 Street.
Police believe this was a targeted incident and not a random occurrence. RCMP say that is why it took more than four months to issue a release to the public.
“Most of our releases do not involve time delay such as this one,” said RCMP Cpl. Bert Paquet. “Of all the factors we consider, the number one is always, ‘Is our community at risk? Is public safety compromised?’ ”
In this case, it was neither, he said.
Anyone with further information or who may have witnessed anything suspicious in the neighbourhood is asked to contact the Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502 or Crime Stoppers, at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
